Back to Basics — #1 Priority for Congress and President

Our country is in pretty rough shape at the moment. We are suffering through a pandemic. We are in an ever worsening climate crises. Many are unemployed, hungry and homeless. In spite of all that, many members of Congress continue to focus on themselves and holding on to power. For the past 10 years or so the Senate, led by Mitch McConnell, has been a roadblock for important legislation that is supported by a majority of citizens and passed by the House of Representatives. That’s a real problem and it must stop. Nearly all Americans agree that we have a dysfunctional federal government. It is probably the main issue behind our uncivil war, and it’s preventing Congress from addressing our true major problems.

With the Senate now balanced 50–50 and a Vice President to break the ties, we have a chance to break this roadblock, but it won’t be easy. We need our Representatives and Senators to focus on solving the major problems that confront us and putting the needs of the people above their own individual partisan needs. As Congress and the President search for unity and bi-partisanship, they need to first stop and agree on their very basic reason for being. They need to serve the people of this country, many of whom are in desperate shape. They need to work together toward common goals.

We, the people of the United States of America are sick to death of having a dysfunctional federal government. It is the number one problem that our Representatives, Senators and President must solve, and they need to do it right now.
